This post is for today and Friday. Friday was a memorable day! Two big events were Tony meeting his new Occupational Therapist and Tony having his georgeous locks chopped off.
Lane, Tony’s old OT, had to move to Myrtle Beach. When she told Marlaina she was leaving, Marlaina expressed her desire that Britney be her [Lane’s] replacement. Marlaina had met Britney previously at Tony’s birthday party; she came with Jill. Lane said she’d see what she could do. Obviously she worked it out, because Friday while Tony and I were playing on the basketball court, his favorite person Jill came walking through the gate and she had a friend with her – it was Britney! This was the perfect place to do the introduction, and we had the ball so we could ask Tony WHO he wanted us to roll, kick, or throw it to. It was really fun for him.
It has been getting really hot lately and Tony has a tendency to get heat rash. The last few days when we got back from playing outside, Tony was dripping with sweat and his Mom and Dad were worried about his comfort level. Marlaina tried a ponytail with gel. The high ponytail combined with the pink ponytail holder sent Anton over the edge – he didn’t want his handsome young man looking so much like a member of the opposite sex. Marlaina and Anton had been thinking long and hard about cutting hid hair. After we walked home and Tony did some work in his room with Jill and Britney, Anton decided that enough was enough, and since there were enough people present he grabbed the scissors, had Jill, Britney and Mommy hold Tony still. It was a little rough and Tony was more than reluctant, but after it was over he was just fine!
Today was fun for Tony. When we were in the middle of playing with legos on the floor, Tony was thrilled to see Jill coming in the front door. “Jill, Jill, Jill, Jill!” he exclaimed happily. He seemed to have a good speech session. After that, it was time for a car ride! Marlaina, Tony and I went to Goodwill and they were having a book sale! Now Tony has 22 new (to him) books, and he loves them. We looked through every single one of them after we got home.
Back to phase II starting today, but Tony wasn’t really into it. We actually got the actions of “If You’re Happy and You Know It” done in the car while Mommy was at the Post Office. He hasn’t really stopped working on his phase II colors this whole time, but that’s good. Differentiating between yellow and orange is slightly problematic, but we’ll keep working on it. We couldn’t fit in Potatohead today, but tomorrow we’ll bring him out early. When we worked on motor imitation Tony threw the ball and kicked the ball without missing a beat, but he was uninterested in the other activities. Maybe I’m just not malking it fun enough.
